CHRISTMAS TREE PICKUP
Tuesday, January 8, 2008 (trees can also be taken to the City landfill) Trees must be at the curb by 7:00 AM with all decorations & garland removed

GARBAGE MAXIMUMS
Two cans or four bags or combination of one can and two bags. 50 lb maximum per container. Stickers for additional cans or bags may be purchased for $1 each.

DUMPSTER RENTAL
Dumpster can be rented from the city.  Cost is $2.50 for delivery, plus $1.00 for each day the dumpster is rented, and $15.00 for each time the dumpster is emptied.  Rentals can be arranged by calling City Hall, or click HERE to e-mail your request.

EXTRA GARBAGE PICK UP
Large items must be arranged for pick up by calling City Hall, or click HERE to e-mail your request.. Items should then be placed next to your cans/bags on your regular garbage day. Items for $10 pick up include: computers, fans, mattresses, doors, humidifiers, TVs, etc... Appliances can be picked up for a $20 fee.

2008 HOLIDAY GARBAGE SCHEDULE

March 21, Good Friday Friday route will be picked up Thursday, March 20
May 26, Memorial Day Monday route will be picked up Tuesday, May 27
July 4, Independence Day Friday route will be picked up on Thursday, July 3
Sept 1, Labor Day Monday route will be picked up Tuesday, Sept 2
   

CITY WIDE GARAGE SALE SCHEDULE
Spring - May 3, 2008 - Unlimited cans/bags will be picked up May 5-9  at no add’l charge

Fall - Sept 20, 2007 - Unlimited cans/bags will be picked up Sept 22-26 at no add’l charge

YARD WASTE LANDFILL HOURS (open 7 days/week)
April 1 - October 31 ...............7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
November 1 - March 31 ...........7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

CURBSIDE RECYCLING SCHEDULE
1st and 3rd Thursdays Materials (no glass or Styrofoam) must be at the curb by 7:00 AM. A recycling drop-off bin for all recyclable materials is also available at 4th & Elm.

Recycling Guidelines

All recyclables (except glass) can be placed in one container -- no sorting!

METAL: Remove all food and rinse clean. Labels do not need to be removed. Clean aluminum foil, pie tins, beverage cans, empty non-hazardous aerosol cans, and tin cans

   Acceptable - All metal containers.
   Not acceptable - Batteries, syringes, knives, blades, needles, nails and oil filters.

  

MIXED PAPER:  Must be clean and dry. All paper can be mixed.

  Acceptable- Newspaper, magazines, coupons, junk mail, newspaper inserts, envelopes, paper bags, labels from cans, paperback books, phone books, TV guides, colored paper, file folders, white ledger, computer paper, etc.
   Not acceptable - waxed paper, carbons, photos, tissues, napkins, paper towels, plates, crayon drawings, smoking materials, pet food or fertilizer bags.

  

PLASTICS: Look for the recycling symbol and numbers. Rinse clean and air dry. Plastics not marked with a recycling number should be discarded. Plastic caps and lids should be removed and discarded. Labels can remain. Do not place other objects inside the bottles and jugs.

   Acceptable - Milk jugs, food, detergent, juice, beverage and shampoo bottles or containers.
   Not acceptable - Unmarked plastics, film plastics, auto lubricant containers, antifreeze containers, soiled or unclean containers.

  

CARDBOARD: Must be clean and flattened. Don't leave any contents in the boxes (no Styrofoam(r), plastic liners, wood, newspaper or any packaging materials).

   Acceptable - Chipboard and cardboard. Cereal and cracker boxes (remove waxed paper liner), tissue boxes, egg cartons, pop and beer cases, however, don't recycle if oil soaked or dirty.
   Not acceptable - waxy coated cardboard such as milk or juice cartons.
