Building Department:
The Building Department enforces the 2006 International Building Code, the 2006 International Residential Code, and the 2008 National Electric Code. Building, Electrical, Plumbing & Mechanical permits are issued at City Hall. [Permit Application and the Permit Fee Schedule]
All contractors must be registered with Iowa Workforce and provide their State Contractors License number and expiration date. All Electric, Plumbing & Mechanical contractors must be licensed through the State. A certificate of liability must also be presented to the City of La Porte City.
